Early Childhood Centers

Finding an early childhood or pre-k program can take from six- months to a year. Many programs have a waiting list and take applications one year prior to the beginning of their school year. Parents should begin their search with a telephone interview. This helps to narrow down your search to programs worth further exploration. Always start with the basic criteria relevant for all child care options: hours, age groups, fees, and licensing.   Call CCI at 212.929.7604 to develop your child care search plan.

Pre School children are working on:

  • Learning new skills
  • Becoming more interested in the world around them
  • Forming social relationships with other children and adults

During your visit, you should:

  • Observe your child's potential classroom and the interactions between teachers and children
  • Tour the entire facility to get a full picture of the maintenance and quality of the facility
  • Prepare questions beforehand and talk in depth with the director
